well its incubation day 8 so Ineed to candle the eggs to day. The incubator seems to be keeping its temp well and the little trough of water is working to keep the humidity up. The chickens are Happy now there is a bit of sun about dust bathing, preening and sunbathing are so much more pleasurable in the sun!
The warm weather has meant Joan can do a bit of worming by the compost heaps and this has improved her skin condition no end. he feathers are growing back now so its good news. More good news is that Clover's picture is going to be in the BHWT newsletter. Well better get off and candle these eggs.

Hello these blogs are about our allotment and our small garden. We live in rural kent we are a family of two and we have three chickens called Herminoe, Joan and Clover. Our allotment is about 1/4 mile away. Weve had it for two years now. We have 4 compost heaps 3 water butts and two active wormories.

- As part of our very smallholding we have three hens. The hen above is Clover she is an ex battery hen. We also have Joan (the black hen and leader of the flock) and Herminoe (the red hen. They lay about 5 eggs each a week usually in the morning and sometimes ready for breakfast! They Live in an Egglo. We think they like it. They eat most things mainly layers mash (a prepared hen food) greens, fruit and cat food, yes hens are omnivores! and of course fresh water. Everyday they play around the garden, dust bath and preen and eat! they are real little characters we hope you will enjoy reading about them.
